As the world around us shakes off the winter chill and bursts into life, it's crucial to remember that our skin is intimately connected to our overall well-being. Spring cleaning shouldn't just apply to our homes; it's a brilliant opportunity to renew our skin and embrace a fresh start. That's why, as an award-winning holistic therapist and founder of Access 4 Beauty, I've curated these seven tips to help you revitalize your complexion from the inside out. From mindful breathing exercises to harnessing the power of nature's own ingredients, these rituals are more than just skincare – they're acts of self-care designed to leave you feeling radiant and rejuvenated.

1. Breath in
Breathing from your diaphragm helps to rid our body of toxins, and bring in new air. This is great for the skin and our overall wellness as well. Why not take advantage of the crisp air and chirping birds by doing it outside. Using nature as your calming sound
2. Keep up with the double cleansing
Spring in the UK brings a unique set of challenges: increased pollen in the air, more time spent outdoors accumulating dirt and pollution, and the heavier use of sunscreen to combat that (sometimes elusive) spring sunshine. A single cleanse often won't cut it, leaving behind residue that can clog pores, exacerbate allergies, and hinder the absorption of your precious serums and moisturisers. Double cleansing ensures a thoroughly clean canvas, allowing your skin to breathe and effectively benefit from the rest of your springtime skincare regime. It's an investment in clear, healthy, and happy skin as you blossom alongside the season.
3. Invest in products with natural deriving vitamins D and C
In the spring we tend to have that false illusion of sun, however it is still pretty dull, which could also mean dull skin. Investing in a serum or toner with vitamins D and C can enhance your skins natural radiance and improve skin texture and gradually even out complexion.
4. Use a face mist
Face mists awaken skin, nourish the skin, and can protect the skin barrier. Investing in one with soothing and cooling ingredients such as rose water or cucumber, can also help soothe pollen irritated skin which can be quite common in spring
5. Use natural skincare products with jojoba oil
It is antioxidant, outside we face daily elements that are harmful to our skin such as environmental toxins, pollution, and harsh weather. These elements create free radicals that can be very damaging to the condition of our skin. By using jojoba oil-infused products, you're equipping your skin with a protective shield against free radicals and other "nasties" lurking in the air, helping to maintain a healthy, radiant, and resilient complexion.
6. Drink lots of water.
If you find this hard then add lemons, cucumber, and lime to give it a cool Citric flavour, also eat fruits that naturally have a lot of water like watermelon, our skin craves hydration and the elements of spring can cause our skin to dry out. This practice also helps us to detoxify our skin and eliminate toxins.
7. Switch off
Give yourself permission to rest and sleep. Spring is all about newness. You will not feel very renewed or awakened if you are not giving your body enough rest or sleep. Try adopting a healthy sleep ritual that prepares your body and let's it know it's time to switch off, this could include calming music, pillow spray, dimmed lights, a soothing bath, intentional breathing, and a gentle massage of the forehead.
